MHM in RURAL RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL

This past October 2018, we had the amazing opportunity to witness firsthand how education changes lives. The first school we visited was an all girls boarding school (grades 6-8) outside of Lucknow where Milaan held the Ayati-funded Menstrual Health Management workshop nearly 10 months ago.

The girls, aged 11-14, were from surrounding villages and for most, this was the first schooling they had received of any kind. Listening to their understanding of menstruation, how it’s a natural process that every female experiences, and how all the taboos and myths should not be obstacles was such a proud moment for us. These girls were vocal, confident and strong in their belief that they can become what they want to be, and that they are not limited by the fact that they are female.
